2010 Survey Work

Small Mammal Sessions

Trapping sesions have started again this year. It will be interesting to compare results with the previous years.

Moth Identification

We use a Heath trap worked off a battery in Willow Bank Wood. Whilst it does not attract as many moths as larger more powerful traps we are getting interesting results.

Butterflies and Dragonflies

There are ongoing surveys over the summer months.

Pond Surveys

We survey our ponds for frogs, toads, newts and other aquatic species of insect. One of our ponds now supports smooth, palmate and great crested newts.

Floral Surveys

A detailed floral survey of the reserve was undertaken last year and will be updated this year.

Bird Box and Birds

We undertake a dawn chorus event each year coupled with ongoing sightings. In the autumn all the bird boxes are checked, recorded and maintained.
